OVERVIEW
This personal project explores a redesign of DEAN’s debut single, I’m Not Sorry featuring Eric Bellinger. I reimagined the original cover through a typography-focused approach, aiming to create a visual identity that feels more aligned with DEAN’s artistic style and the song’s atmosphere.
The redesign draws on contemporary album design trends while using typography, composition, and visual tone to create a more cohesive connection between the music and DEAN’s evolving identity.
THE PROBLEM
The original artwork felt disconnected from the visual identity DEAN would later develop as an artist. This created an opportunity to rethink the artwork and explore how typography and contemporary design principles could better translate the tone of the music into a cohesive visual identity.

CONLUSION
I am happy with the final outcome of this redesign and feel that the new direction better reflects DEAN’s overall artistic style and the mood of the song. Through this project, I explored how typography, composition, and visual tone can be used to create a stronger connection between an artist’s identity and their music.
The final design moves toward a more contemporary approach seen within current hip-hop and R&B album artwork, while creating a visual identity that feels more intentional and connected to the artist.
